Mara: Good evening. Three stories from the Desk, and the lamp has agreed to stay on for all of them.

Sam: It is late. Or early, depending on who you ask. Gerald the stool has been on the noticeboard all night and has not complained once.

Mara: No jokes near that one. We move on carefully.

Sam: ABC News reports Queensland's industrial relations review has handed down its report, with more than 100 recommendations. One of the proposed changes is a fit and proper test for union officials.

Mara: Australia Tonight had that earlier, and I am told they did it sitting down.

Sam: The pen and the teaspoon are still in the kettle cupboard.

Mara: Then the cupboard has a standing arrangement, and I will not be the one to ask it to move.

Sam: The cupboard has been in charge since Tuesday, as far as I can tell.

Sam: SBS News reports Australia has joined Canada, France and the UK in calling on the Palestinian Authority to reconsider its decision on election delays.

Mara: Four foreign ministers in agreement. Nobody in this Shed has managed that about the stool.

Sam: Gerald has not been consulted. He is a stool, and he takes that as read.
